A lot of marketers are giving away free gifts or freebies to attract visitors to their website into their list. These gifts are in the form of free services, e-books or ezines. What is happening is that these free gifts being offered are loosing their perceived value by these site visitors.

There is no doubt that free gifts increase customer acquisition, but not quite like they did in the earlier days of the internet. The best way to deal with this is to increase the perceived value of the free gifts to make them very attractive to your visitors.

These here are ways that you could increase the value to your free gifts. These however are by no means an exhaustive list of ways, so you could be creative and think of others. Test each idea to see which one draws the most takers to your offer and into your mailing list.

Descriptively increase the attractiveness of your free gift. Example - tell them that they will 'get a free secret report, that's never been released' instead of just 'get a free report'

Change the general habit of businesses of not providing testimonials for free gifts. Providing great testimonials for your free gifts will surely improve their perceived value.

Provide the worth of your free gifts in dollars. Example - you could say, 'subscribe to my free ezine, a value of $299 USD'.

Stack up the free gifts to increase their perceived value. Example, 'subscribe to my free newsletter and get a copy of a bestseller ebook on a related topic for free'!

Create an illusion of scarcity by saying that the free gift will only be available to a few people. Example, 'our free software will only be given to the first 90 people to subscribe and we've already had 50 subscribers.

Provide detailed facts about the free gift. Give information about best features, benefits and what problems could be solved by using the free gift.

Create a time limit to the availability of the free gift offer. State that the free ebook download will only be available until a certain day, month and year.

Reveal the number of people that have already received and / or still receiving your free gift. For example, "16,000 people have already subscribed to my free e-zine! They cannot all be wrong?
