Today's economic situation is such that everyone wants to start having an alternative way of making money to supplement
their fixed salary's or worse because they have been laid off need to start earning just to make ends meet. The internet is
something more and more people are looking into as a means to earn money, and of course there are various means by which
this can be done. If you want to start earning money online then the best way to establish your business presence is by
building a website from where you can start monetizing it through various programs such as Adsense, affiliate sales, etc.
When most small business owners usually think of internet marketing they intuitively think of the internet. Makes sense!
Most people think of Google AdWords, yahoo and more recently Facebook and other social networking sites as well as other
similar traffic generating sites. They think about maintaining and updating lists of keywords and getting click thru rates
(CTR), conversion % and Costs per Click (CPC).

I am going to talk about is offline marketing for your website. You see there are a number of untapped resources waiting
for you to use that are very cost effective to help promote your website.
Internet marketing is a learned skill. It takes much effort, practice and continuous testing. However, you can learn from
many of the so called expert "Gurus" by paying close attention to what they do and say. You should study auto responder
messages, sales letters and ad copy. But remember, growing trends on the internet are quickly changing the tides of how
information flows on the web and now you can profit greatly by learning new ways to market your business. American writer
and futurist, Alvin Toffler, author of the 1970's book "Future Shock" wrote "the illiterate of the 21st century will not be
those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn." You should pay close attention to new
terms like Web 2.0 and enabling technologies like blogging, social networking, RSS, and video marketing. These terms are
now leveling the playing field for many marketers even with limited experience and this means big potential profit is
possible if used effectively. Use all of them wisely. Consistency is very important.
You can create a schedule. But if you do so, you must stick to it. People who currently read you will expect a new post
from you on the date you specified and will not enjoy if you do not respect your word. Going on a holiday for some time is
accepted and understood, but constantly missing your self-made appointments with your readers will only make you look
unserious. You will not want to lose your audience after you have spent a lot of time and effort building your blog and
gathering them around you. If you want the readers to easily understand and follow you, keep your writings clear and
simple. Remember that not only people from your country may read your page and some phrases cannot be translated with
accuracy.
At this point you will have a list of long-tail keywords(keywords with 3 or more words). These are the keywords you should
aim for because they will most likely have less competition. You will want to take note of the daily searches the keywords
get. The next step is to find exactly how many competing sites there are for the particular keywords you choose.
This can be done by using keyword research tools or by going to search engine such as Google and putting that particular
keyword in quotations. General rule of thumb is to pick long tail keywords that have a high volume of searches and low
volume of competition. For example, 1000 daily searches and 100,000 competing sites is pretty good. But keep in mind that
the number of competition is not as important as the strength of competition.
