Pound-euro exchange rate: Sterling reaches 4-month high as Macron calls for a “Euro army”



The pound is trading at a rate of €1.146 against the euro this morning, which is practically unchanged on the day, but remains close to the four-month high struck yesterday. With the Italian budget deadlock continuing to rumble on without a solution in sight, French President Emmanuel Macron has ruffled euro investors’ feathers by calling for the establishment of a “real European army.”
