The pound fell by 0.4 percent against the US dollar this morning, with the pairing fluctuating around $1.246 ahead of Fed Chairman Jerome Powell’s speech later on this afternoon. The pairing fell today following poor UK sales data and scathing comments from US President Donald Trump. President Trump criticised both Prime Minister Theresa May and the British ambassador to Washington.
